'How the bear is not equal to the bear'
On 5 June 2024, the President of the Foundation, Dr Wojciech Śmietana, gave a speech entitled ‘How the bear is not equal to the bear’. The presentation took place within the framework of a scientific seminar of the Institute of Biology and Earth Sciences of the University of the Commission for Scientific Education in Krakow. The talk dealt with differences in behaviour between brown bear individuals from the Bieszczady population. The presented analytical results were based on telemetry data (GPS telemetry) and non-invasive genetic studies. Issues concerning the influence of anthropogenic objects on bear use of space and damage to human economy were discussed.
